This lecture course will cover key aspects of modern theoretical condensed matter physics: Electronic structure of solids, density functional theory, crystal structure and symmetry, bandstructure theory, cohesion in solids, lattice vibrations, magnetism, and surface physics. All lectures will be given in English.

Criteria for the exercise class ("Übungsschein"):

  • 50% of the homework points
  • Regular and active participation in the exercises
  • Presentation of homework tasks
  • Active participation in the computational exercises
