Mission and Research Topics

In June 2014 Claudia Draxl was appointed Max Planck Fellow at the FHI by the president of the MPS. The program of Max Planck Fellows is designed to strengthen and document the ties between MPIs and universities and includes the setup of a small group at the FHI.
Since July 2019, Claudia Draxl is Max Planck Fellow at the MP Graduate Center for Quantum Materials.

The main focus of the Max Planck Fellow group was placed on data-driven research, covering all aspects – from creation of high-quality benchmark data to the design of a FAIR data infrastructure to the development and application of artificial-intelligence (AI) tools. Through the tight interaction with the host group, the NOMAD Laboratory has developed into a word-leading platform for materials discovery. The by now well-established NOMAD Laboratory has recently been incorporated into a non-profit association, FAIR Data Infrastructure for Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, and Astronomy e.V. (FAIR-DI e.V.).

Work with Claudia Draxl concerns also for example studies on hybrid inorganic/organic systems and thermoelectric materials.
